Dr. Jaime Ghitelman is a board certified interventional cardiologist with special expertise in the treatment of complex coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular interventions. Dr. Ghitelman’s procedural skills include cardiac catheterization and high-risk coronary interventions via radial approach and the use of Impella device for circulatory support in patients considered high-risk. He has also extensive expertise with endovascular arterial and venous procedures; treating patients with critical limb ischemia and advanced venous insufficiency with the most advanced techniques including atherectomy and drug-coating balloons for patients with arterial disease and endovenous ablations, thermal and non-thermal for patients with venous disease.
When he is not in the cath lab he helps patients treat all cardiovascular risk factors using a plant-based diet combined with the latest medical treatment in order to prevent and in some cases reverse cardiovascular disease.
Originally from Caracas Venezuela, Dr. Ghitelman attended the prestigious Universidad Central de Venezuela where he earned his MD. He then completed internal residency training at Jacobi Medical Center and his training in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology fellowship at the Montefiore Medical Center in New York CIty. He then pursued an additional year of advanced training in vascular and endovascular intervention at St Elizabeth Medical Center in Boston.
Dr. Ghitelman joined our practice in 2010 and sees patients at our South Miami, Coral Gables and Doral offices. He does procedures at Baptist Hospital, South Miami Hospital and at our office-based laboratory (OBL).
