Important Security and Protection Notification
Cardiovascular Medicine Associates, PA d/b/a MyCardiologist (“MyCardiologist”)—6200 Sunset Drive, Suite 401, South Miami, FL 33143—is issuing a notice about a security event that could affect certain individuals’ Protected Health Information (“PHI”).
Recently, MyCardiologist learned of an unauthorized actor’s acquisition of MyCardiologist information, including information relating to certain MyCardiologist patients. The impacted information includes first and last name, mailing address, Social Security number, date of birth, driver’s license number, payment card information, clinical and health-related information, and other PHI.
We take the security and confidentiality of patient information extremely seriously. MyCardiologist moved swiftly to address the situation under its established incident response plans. We retained third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate and promptly shut down the unauthorized access. Additionally, we continue to evaluate and enhance our data security defenses to guard against malicious threats, including by implementing additional security protocols and developing enhanced employee training. At this time, we have no reason to believe that any current or former patient information has been misused. Nevertheless, if you are a current or former patient of MyCardiologist, we recommend that you remain vigilant for incidents of fraud and identity theft, including by regularly reviewing your account activity and credit reports.
